At Brief Hypnosis we specialise in practising and promoting solution-focused therapeutic hypnosis. This differs from traditional stereotypes of hypnosis in that we do not spend much time talking about the past, or seeking to uncover the historic cause of the issues you are facing. Instead, we work with the here and now, to get you moving into your desired future.
What is Brief Therapy?
‘Brief therapy’ can best be understood as a commitment to resolving an issue in a strategic manner in as short a time as possible. In fact, many adherents of brief therapy would suggest that prolonging sessions over an extended period of time can be dis-empowering and counter-productive.
A popular example of brief therapy is Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, which focuses on a client’s resources and employs a future-orientation. This is in contrast to traditional therapies which might be more inclined to focus on the ‘problem’ being discussed and seeking to back-track to the root of the issue.
What is included in Brief Hypnosis?
Brief Hypnosis incorporates elements of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Ericksonian Hypnosis. Other important elements include Acceptance and Committment Therapy and other Mindfulness and Acceptance Based Therapies, as well as Motivational Interviewing.
